Desiree was born and raised in Idaho, not far from where the Sawtooths kiss the white clouds, the yellow pines reach for the heavens and where the red fish celebrate their annual reunions.
Her early environment sparked her love of the outdoors; adventuring with Outward Bound and working as a buyer at a popular outdoor sporting goods store.

She now splits her time between Idaho and Salt Lake City, Utah where she enjoys morning runs with her dog Roux, honing her backcountry skills, and spending time in the garden and with her awesome husband.
Passions
She is currently pursuing a Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DiMM) and her 2021 goals include starting the Master Fellow program with the Academy of Wilderness Medicine.
She is an expert list-maker, a budding private pilot, and like a true Idahoan, won’t pass up the opportunity for a good potato.

Family
My wife, Carla is an archaeologist working as research faculty at the University of Arkansas. Our two sons are Felix and Otto. Our foxhound mix is Cleopatra and our indescribable little brown dog is Mabel.
Passions
I favor trail running over everything else, having worked ultramarathon trail races and run them up to 50k in length. Rock climbing has taken quite a bit of my time in the past, while mountain biking and sailing are set to take more time in the future. My childhood home in the hills outside town is now a hobby farm for my family where we have blackberries, wildflowers, and apples tucked into the forest, so that's where we go to swim, drive tractors, and play disc golf.

Passions
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest backpacking, hiking, and mountaineering, and recently in the last decade, I began SCUBA diving. When I became a doctor my primary goal was to figure out how to incorporate everything I love about experiencing the outdoors with medicine. I completed further training in Wilderness Medicine to do just that and now am lucky to use that training to work in remote locations, help provide medical direction for National Parks, and to teach and train others about health and safety in the backcountry and at sea!
